Patient complains of severe acute pain radiating to hip, back, thigh and as far as knee. Movement of hip joint, sitting on the affected side or lying on the affected side, aggravates pain. On examination, it can be observed that patient favours the affected extremity while leaning towards the unaffected side. Spasms of low back muscle and hamstrings might be evident. Studies evaluating prevalence of sacroiliac joint pain in select population is anywhere 7% to 19% (average 15%).
