Many people term it as neuralgia paresthetica. This clinical condition presents with hypersensitive sensation in the lateral part of thigh. The nagging discomfort over the lateral part of thigh happens because of compression of the lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh. This is one of the common entrapment neuropathies. The characteristics of this clinical situation are paraesthesia (increased pain for normal sensation), burning pain in the affected nerve root distribution of the lateral thigh.
