In the neck, the facet problems are easily attended by the medial branch (they are the nerve supply to facet joints) blocks rather than facet joint injections. In fact intraarticular injections are very difficult in badly deranged facet joints. But the facet joint procedures are very simple to perform and can be repeated easily. Since not much of structural damage is done, these procedures are becoming very popular these days. In fact, facet joint disease itself is an under diagnosed entity.
If the medial branch block with local anaesthetic gives good results, then radiofrequency denervation is considered.
