This is considered for the patients with glossopharyngeal neuralgia either because of unknown origin or tumours. It is done on an outpatient setting. If serial diagnostic injections provide good pain relief, then long-term relief can be obtained either with injection of neurolytics or Radiofrequency lesioning. If these measures do not provide relief, a surgical procedure is considered.
